This film marks what is technically the first "Bond car" - the first vehicle he drives is a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, although he does so only after dispatching the original driver, who tries to kill him. (Even aside from this film, the '57 Bel Air has long been considered a collector's item.) The first car James Bond drives of his own volition is the one he rents, a Sunbeam Tiger convertible. In the novels Bond drove a 1930 Bentley convertible. In the film series the car is shown only once, parked, not driven, in From Russia With Love. It's not until the third Bond film, Goldfinger, that he drives the iconic silver Aston Martin DB5.
