The actors playing the main villains in the first two seasons, being James Purefoy (Joe Carroll) and Connie Nielsen (Lily Gray), have both played in productions about ancient Rome: Nielsen in Il gladiatore (2000), and Purefoy in Roma (2005). Zuleikha Robinson, who played Gwen in season 3, also had a supporting role in "Rome."
