Edward Phillipe Mott, Evan Peters' character from the Roanoke season, is distantly related to Dandy Mott, played by Finn Wittrock, in the Freak Show season. The connection was mentioned by the historian in Roanoke, American Horror Story: Chapter 5 (2016), when she says, "The house remained in the Mott trust for over a century, but it was always said madness ran in the family. The line ended in scandal when the last Mott died in south Florida in 1952." Freak Show took place in south Florida in 1952.
