It would amount to an income of £1,500 a year on a 5% interest, making Miss Georgiana Darcy (Tamzin Merchant) a very eligible young woman. In comparison, Mr. Bennet (Donald Sutherland) has agreed to give the married Lydia (Jena Malone) £100 a year, meaning her dowry, as well as those of her four other sisters, is only £2,000.
