An episode titled Batman of the Future: The Last Resort (2000) was conceived in response to the Columbine massacre, and it turned out to be the only script the network did not want to do at all. It was originally supposed to be a gritty prison story, but a lot of the grit was lost when the writers were forced to make the revisions that they had to make in order to get the network to approve the episode.
