Belle is the only person in her village who wears the color blue. This serves to set her apart from the other human characters, and to contrast her as much as possible from Gaston, who always wears red. The color contrast is also reflected in her relationship with Beast - when he first appears he wears a red cape, but as he falls in love with her he switches to a blue cape, finally appearing in the blue coat when they dance together.
