The movie may very well lay claim to having one of the the biggest flash-forwards in mainstream cinema. Assuming that the opening scene takes place on a primordial Earth before early life started to develop, it is implied to be around 4 billion BC. After this scene, the film proceeds to the year 2089 AD. This beats out the flash-forward from 2001: Odissea nello spazio (1968), which starts somewhere around 3.4 million BC, and then proceeds to the year 1999 or 2000 AD.
