In this iteration, Billy Russo is Frank Castle's former best friend who served alongside him in the Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance as a Scout Sniper. After he left the Marines, Russo started his own private military contracting firm, Anvil. In the comics, Russo started as a hitman for New York's Italian criminal underworld and eventually became Jigsaw, a recurring foe of the Punisher as well as Spider-Man and Daredevil.
