An odd misunderstanding surrounded the series' Hungarian release. In mid-2017, Goku's voice actor László Lippai told fans that 60+ episodes of an unspecified Dragon Ball series have been dubbed in 2016. Since Hungary has mostly stopped releasing anime years before, this was major news, but no one knew if Lippai had meant Super or Dragon Ball Kai: Doragon bôru kai (2009). At an anime convention, he joked that it was actually "Dragon Ball porn" and imitated Goku having sex to the audience's delight. In early 2018, Lippai revealed he had been referring to Dragon Ball GT (1996), which was actually dubbed in 2011 - the actor simply had a faulty memory, causing quite a bit of confusion. However, unrelated to all this, it turned out that Dragon Ball Super was indeed being dubbed for a 2018 release in the Central European region, with Lippai returning as the Hungarian voice of Goku, meaning the fans and media outlets didn't get excited over nothing after all.
