Rob Zombie had never intended to make a sequel, and to make sure one couldn't be made, he had Laurie fatally shoot Michael Myers at point-blank range in the face in the first film to officially kill him off. However, because the film was a huge financial success, Dimension Films greenlit a sequel against Zombie's wishes. He begrudgingly came back to direct so that nobody else can ruin his vision. This resulted in a plot hole, as there's no explanation in this film for how Michael survived such fatal injuries without immediate medical attention, especially because in the Rob Zombie versions, Michael is a human with no supernatural elements.
