John Cusack used to work frequently with Rob Reiner, whose credits with him included Stand by Me - Ricordo di un'estate (1986), an adaptation of a Stephen King story, set in the fictional small town of Castle Rock. Apart from Reiner (who produced several more King adaptations), Cusack also appeared in more Stephen King adaptations: Cell (2016) and 1408 (2007). In this film, he works with David Cronenberg, who previously directed La zona morta (1983), another King adaptation set in Castle Rock.
