Paul Liaw of Industrial Light & Magic, who sculpted the Mosasaurus 3-D model used turtles, crocodiles, whales, and other animals he could find on the internet as references when creating its underbelly and back. Industrial Light & Magic purposely made the Mosasaurus in this movie larger than its real-life counterpart to make it look big enough for the final fight with Indominus Rex at the end.
