Robert Altman's son, Mike Altman, wrote the lyrics for the M*A*S*H (1970) theme song "Suicide is Painless". He was only fifteen when he wrote the lyrics. While his father only made $70,000 for directing the movie, Mike has earned over $2 million and continues to earn from the royalties for co-writing the song. The lyrics were dropped from the television version, however, because they were deemed too controversial for television at the time.
