The "Tax Da Panty" tagline and movie poster for the film caused a controversy in the U.K. where Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen) was positioned next to a nude person, allegedly female, with his hand on her bottom, with Ali G's face shown , and the back of the body facing the viewer. The poster also ran with an election slogan at the top in full upper case letters stating "VOTE ALI G". Reportedly, according to an article by Matt Born in The Telegraph, stated "in one of its speediest and most stringent rulings, the Advertising Standards Authority (A.S.A.) said the poster for the film Ali G Indahouse (2002) was widely regarded as offensive and pornographic." Reportedly, A.S.A. Director Christopher Graham said at the time: "This poster clearly caused serious offence to many who saw it and we have acted promptly to ensure that the image is taken down and stays down."
