Pedro Almodóvar's seventh film starring Rossy de Palma in a major role. Coincidentally, in their previous collaboration, Gli abbracci spezzati (2009), de Palma plays a character named Julieta, although the character's name was a tribute to actress Julieta Serrano who played the part de Palma's "Broken Embraces" character was inspired by in Donne sull'orlo di una crisi di nervi (1988).
