Soul and funk singer Sharon Jones was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, but went into remission after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy. She was quick to resume touring, but the cancer returned in 2015. Her appearance in Luke Cage: You Know My Steez (2016) would be her swan song during which time she was already dying of pancreatic cancer.
