At first, Buena Vista Television's show would not launch into syndication, due to the little jewel that wanted to keep it to themselves, and they really thought about rejecting the show, this was because most stations had refused. Then, when Regis Philbin went up to one of the producers about giving him another chance, Philbin's producer relented and gave him permission to do this, and he stayed on the show for almost 24 years, until his retirement, midway throughout the 24th season.
