Though Regis Philbin had almost appeared in almost every episode of the show's run, until his retirement, late in 2011, there were times where he was absent for tapings (primarily due to his health), from the angioplasty he had on his right artery, to to a triple bypass surgery, to a hip replacement surgery, and finally to a blood clot, where he had to be operated, from his calf.
