According to Philip French in an article published in The Observer on Sunday, March 24, 2002 and hosted on The Guardian newspaper website, the first half a minute or so of the movie, which has been predominantly cut for DVD and home video releases, states that the "first 30 seconds when Ali (G) appears over the BBFC Certificate and changes the categorization from '15' to '18'. He goes on to warn us about having sex in the back row of the cinema (other people's semen on the seats) and to suggest that our enjoyment will be enhanced by lighting a spliff."
