Nancy momentarily defeats Freddy Krueger by overcoming her fear of him. When he tries to attack her, he ends up going right through her and disappearing. This is somewhat similar to how the Losers Club defeat It/Pennywise in It - Capitolo due (2019). The Losers overcome their fears and taunt Pennywise/It to where he is reduced to infant size. Like Krueger, Pennywise/It feeds off of the fears and insecurities of his victims.
