Dr. Calvin seems convinced by the CEO of USR to terminate Sonny and injects him with lethal nanites. The robot's yellow eyes can be seen briefly before they go black. This is a hint that Dr. Calvin actually saved Sonny as all NS-5s have yellow eyes, except for Sonny whose are blue.
