There were nine cameras filming Kasuf's charge towards the Pyramid at the end of the film. According to Dean Devlin, the extras were all given the instruction "run toward the camera". Since there were nine cameras, the extras scattered in all directions leaving Kasuf largely alone at the end of the shot. The scene was reset on a different sand dune (as the extras' footprints were now visible in the sand), and this time the extras were told to "follow Kasuf". This resulted in the take seen in the film.
