Some viewers were left confused by the scene where Glass stripped out of his clothes to sleep in the horse's carcass nude during the snow storm. Others explained that the reason for this was in order for his body to be kept properly warm and insulated during the cold, wintry night. It was also to prevent his clothes from getting covered by the horse's blood. It was even suggested that the horse's mostly hollowed out body cavity had potentially healed Hugh's wounds further due whatever was left of its blood and organ tissue.
