Toei Animation announced that characters from the Moro and Granolah sagas from the manga adaptation won't appear nor be mentioned in the film. This is because there are lots of fans who don't read the manga but only watch the anime and since these two sagas hasn't been adapted into the anime yet, it would confuse the audiences. And to avoid the spoilers to those fans who read the manga for at the time the movie was released, the Granolah saga wasn't finished yet. Toei Animation confirmed that those sagas are canon though.
