One story doing the rounds of the industry was that Amitabh got Parveen Babi replaced from Silsila. This was due to Prakash Mehra telling Amitabh he was suing Parveen Babi for 18 lakhs worth of damage (She had left Namak Halaal) and soon she would have to run and leave the industry. Mehra told Bachchan that Silsila would not be made as Parveen would soon quit the industry. Fearing the film being delayed, Bachchan told Yash Chopra this and the decision to remove Parveen Babi was made.
