The story was intended to include the present day character Lara, a 12-year-old descendant of the 15th Century Spanish assassin Maria, played by Octavia Selena Alexandru. Her back story was supposed to be that she was taken in by the Rikkins after her own family was killed. She was to have formed a mother-daughter relationship with Sofia Rikkin, and become a friend of Callum Lynch, but the character was edited out of the film. Several of her scenes can be seen in the deleted scenes section of the home video release.
