In his introduction scene at LexCorp HQ, Lex Luthor makes a 'wish list' of demands to the male US Senator regarding access to Zod's corpse and the wreck of the Kryptonian craft from the previous movie. At the end of the montage of footage, Lex offers the senator a cherry-flavored hard candy, and when the senator seemingly refuses, Lex force-feeds it to him politely in a disturbing scene. No explanation has been given as to why he would do that.
