Brad Pitt expressed sincere interest in playing LCDR Hunter during the period when Al Pacino was offered and considering the role of Capt. Ramsey; Pitt had long wanted to work opposite Pacino who he considered a master actor. However, once it was clear Pacino would not be taking the role, Pitt also withdrew his interest. He finally got to act with Pacino in Ocean's Thirteen (2007), and shared a scene with him in C'era una volta... a Hollywood (2019).
