Following an incident on 4 March 2015 in which Jeremy Clarkson physically and verbally attacked producer Oisin Tymon, Clarkson was dismissed by the BBC. His co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May chose not to renew their Top Gear contracts. Chris Evans was announced as the new host for the season beginning in the autumn of 2015.
