It would appear that Carol Burnett completely based her Fireside Girl (of America) character on the Little Red Riding Hood from Little Red Riding Rabbit (1944). She is elsewhere "depicted as a spindly-legged, obnoxious and loud-mouthed teenage bobby-soxer".... and it describes Carol's "Fireside" girl to a T; her imitation not only includes the large round glasses, but the rest of the costume is also copied, albeit in a different color, to conceal its (very obvious when you know where to look) origins.
