In the final scene Dr Chilton is seen disembarking from a Grumman G-73 Mallard seaplane, registration N51151. She was built in around 1948 and seems to have been scrapped around 2007. The plane was owned by Chalk's Ocean Airways, which since its founding in 1917 exclusively focused on the Fort Lauderdale / Bimini route. The airline was eventually shut down by the FAA due to poor structural maintenance following a crash in 2005 in which a wing had broken off shortly after takeoff, costing the lives of the two crewpersons and the eighteen passengers.
