In June 2020, the new HBO Max channel decided not to stream "Gone With the Wind" due to severe racial tensions and nationwide protests against racism at the time. But within a week, it came up with a plan to present the film with a scholarly four-minute intro that put its dated view of a romantic antebellum Southern plantation life supported by slavery into perspective. And the the film was following by a nearly hour-long special feature with four additional experts in a panel discussion entitled "Gone With the Wind: A Complicated Legacy."
