When K is walking outside approaching the casino where Deckard lives, he sticks his hand into one of the honeybee housings. When he slowly pulls it back out, it's covered with bees but they do not sting him. This indicates that the bees were genetically engineered, most likely with the help of Sapper Morton who genetically engineered grubs as shown at the start of the movie. Since there was no engineering "farm" with high-tech equipment depicted in the scene -- as there was at Sapper's home -- this would also indicate that the 'replicant' honeybees are able to reproduce on their own. The honeybees are parallel to one of the main plots of the movie: Genetically engineered organisms being able to reproduce on their own. Furthermore, the fact that they did not sting K's hand (he is a replicant but it's apparent throughout the movie that he can still feel pain as most replicants do, yet he did not flinch or react in any way from the bees, indicating they didn't sting him) also mirrors the concept of replicants not killing "their own kind," or at least not intentionally or without good reason.
