Castle Rock Entertainment's original plan was to premiere this film in October 1995 in order to compete with the film Vampiro a Brooklyn (1995) during the Halloween season. However, the principal photography of "Dracula: Dead and Loving It" lasted until September so it was released in December. In Mel Brooks biography it was stated that Halloween might have been a better time to release "Dracula: Dead and Loving It".
