In the film, Popeye (a sailor) becomes an enemy of Bluto (an evil pirate and bully). In Robin Williams' later movie Hook - Capitan Uncino (1991) based on the classic fantasy novel "Peter Pan" by J.M. Barrie, Peter Banning (Williams), an adult Peter Pan, returns to Neverland to rescue his children from the evil pirate Captain Hook (played in that movie by Dustin Hoffman). Popeye is based on the classic cartoon "Popeye the Sailorman".
