Protagonist Lorenzo Lamas was not thrilled with the scripts of the series' first season. In a 1993 interview, Lamas also criticized the series' formula for having several notable plot holes: "Reno would just show up to where he needed to be, but how did he get there? Why doesn't he leave the country? Why does he hang around and wait to be picked up by a cop who sees his poster?"
