The film ran into censorship trouble in South Africa as it was given a "no persons 2 - 19" age restriction, i.e. no one aged between those ages was permitted to enter the cinema. This is extremely ironic when one considers that at that time in South Africa, school leavers were conscripted into the army from the age of 16 so they were legally permitted to serve in the armed forces but not permitted to see a fact based war film.
