When the film was released in Brazilian theaters, the distributor chose not to translate "American Pie" literally, keeping the title in English and adding a Portuguese subtitle meaning "The First Time is Unforgettable". Because of this, American Pie 2 (2001) was released in Brazil with the subtitle "The Second Time is Even Better".
