At the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Loki right before he is killed by Thanos says that he will never be a god, this is a reference to how Thanos is a Deviant like those shown in Eternals (2021). In that movie, the Eternals are worshiped and thought of by ancient humans as gods, they fought against Deviants who tried to kill humans and the Eternals.
