The movie was originally going to be titled "Hot Lunch." However, one day Alan Parker walked past a porn cinema on 42nd Street that was showing Bocche viziose (1978). Parker decided that was too close to reality, and opted to change the title. It explains Montgomery's lines to Ralph at the end, "You want guarantees? You're in the wrong place. All we're guaranteed here is 7 classes and a hot lunch. The rest is up to us".
