The wage difference between main and co-star was vast: while Björn Andrésen earned just $5000, Dirk Bogarde's salary for his role was 100 times that. According to Bogarde's "Snakes and Ladders" (1978), the actor agreed to accept $40,000 for five months' work. He was also to receive a large percentage of the profit.
