When HAL sings towards the end of the movie he calls the song "Daisy", the name is actually "Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)" written in 1892 by British songwriter Harry Dacre, and thought to have been inspired by Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick, one of the many mistresses of King Edward VII. Author, Arthur C. Clarke wrote the idea into the novel from having witnessed an IBM 704 computer codec demonstration during a trip to Bell Labs at 600 Mountain Avenue, Murray Hill, New Jersey, in 1962.
