Peter Parker's character design was originally intended to resemble the one seen in the comics. However, the design was switched towards the final production of the show after Stan Lee wanted Peter Parker to look more contemporary. Stan Lee described how he wanted Peter Parker to look and Bob Richardson drew what Stan was describing to him.
