The scene at the end of the movie where the Riddler hallucinates that Batman is a real bat may have been inspired by an almost identical scene from 'A Clash of Symbols' (Detective Comics #617, July 1990). At the end of this story, the Joker sees Batman swinging towards him on a rope and momentarily thinks he sees a real bat-creature flying at him. Batman is then able to capitalize upon his enemy's terror and apprehend him.
