Running up to the end of the series, there were stories filtering into Page Six almost weekly about the on-set tensions between stars Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker. According to a 2008 book proposal shopped by Clifford Streit, the real-life inspiration for the show's character Stanford Blatch, tensions on set began because Cattrall was "a natural comedienne, and a scene-stealer in the best possible sense - the camera went right to her." A report in the New York Post revealed that by the end the sixth season, none of the main girls would talk to Cattrall as they had sided with Parker, who was also a producer in the series and friends with showrunner Michael Patrick King. It got to the point where Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis all sat together while Cattrall sat by herself in the 2004 Emmy Awards.
