A "Deadpool" movie had been in the works since 2004, with David S. Goyer intended as director and starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Reynolds had always dreamed of playing Deadpool, and when he heard that the character was given a place in the script, he immediately approached the filmmakers for the role. Deadpool would later get his own solo movie with Deadpool (2016).
