Ralph was initially supposed to get caught while in Hero's Duty and subsequently arrested and put on cafeteria duty. The filmmakers eventually felt that the sequence in said game was too long. The holographic general who congratulates Ralph after he obtains the medal was going to have a larger role: he would have worn the medal around his neck and Ralph would swipe it from him while he was in a full body cast after surviving an accident.
