In S2 E8 John Dutton has one of the livestock agents trying to track down whether or not Dan Jenkins owns a plane that was used in the killing of his cattle. The agent can't find anything and then Dutton pauses and says it's been under his nose the whole time. He then tells the agent to search Malcom Beck. This is an error. Dutton stormed in to Dan Jenkins office two episodes earlier. Jenkins says he didn't kill the cattle. Dutton replies 'I know. It was the Beck brothers." They even set a meeting with Rainwater about how to handle the Becks. Yet two episodes later he's still looking in to Jenkins and acts like he's had a revelation and realizes it was the Becks.
