The Porsche 911 used in the opening scene of the film was lent to the production by Michael Bay, who was already a successful director of television commercials and music videos. The studio didn't want to rent a car, the production didn't have the money to rent one and Porsche did not to want to support the movie, so Bay had no choice to step in.After filming, Bay sold the car to Pat Sandston, who sold it to an unnamed owner in 2005, who then sold it to Matthew Drendel in 2008. The car was brought back from the family by the previous owner in 2014.
