Actors Vincent Schiavelli and Kurt Fuller filmed scenes as a pair of ufologists, Hartmut Engel and Libby Fields respectively, who appeared on news shows, with Engel displaying a welcoming and positive outlook on the aliens while Fields accurately feared them as hostile exterminators who saw the human race as pests to be eradicated. These scenes were mostly dropped but can be faintly seen on the wall monitors in David's workplace. These news segments were featured in full on the 20th Anniversary Blu-Ray.
